On January 17th, 14 industrial and academic organisations met in the beautiful location of Verona to kick off the activities of the newly, 6G Smart Network Services (SNS), funded project HORSE.
HORSE is funded under the SNS Phase 1 (2022) Stream B of projects. These projects will perform research for revolutionary technology advancements, in preparation for 6G and revolutionary advancements of IoT, devices and software. These projects will attempt to address fundamental principles of the 6G system, which lay at the basis of technology standardization. Their findings stand the chance to significantly affect initial 6G discussions (use case/system requirements, KPIs, interfaces, etc.) in various standardization bodies, and as such concrete plans are needed with tight synchronization with the relevant standardization activities.
HORSE stands for Holistic, Omnipresent, Resilient Services for Future 6G Wireless and Computing Ecosystems. The main focus of the HORSE project is a holistic research approach aimed to design, develop and validate an autonomous, self-evolving and extendable 6G-ready architecture providing a human-centric approach to security workflows, by enabling top-down, bottom-up and end-to-end security solutions.
The project will demonstrate how applications can leverage the ongoing evolution of 6G capabilities, as well as deal with the technology solutions, and system evaluation not yet foreseen, towards an omnipresent, smart and secure network service provisioning in the future network-of-networks landscape. It will address the challenge towards 6G infrastructure operation for smart connectivity and service management, and beyond, showing its effectiveness at the intersection of 6G connectivity, computing infrastructure management and security.
The Consortium
The HORSE project is powered by 14 partners with complementary expertise in the 5G/6G research and innovation to effectively contribute to the future 6G networks. Under the lead of the CNIT, the HORSE consortium contains four industry partners (Atos, Telefonica, Ericsson, EFACEC), four academia and research centers (CNIT, University Polytechnic Catalunya, Technical University Braunschweig and NKUA) and six SMEs (Martel Innovate, Suite5 Data Intelligence, HOLO, ZORTENET, Sphynx Technologies Solutions and 8BELLS)
