Generative AI has emerged and is developing far more rapidly than expected. These tools are becoming more prevalent in schools and universities, but only a limited number of institutions have established guidelines on the appropriate utilisation which have focused primarily on the use in teaching and learning.
In this context, the LeADS project is organising an online workshop on 17 January 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm CET, on the role of Generative AI in education at the university level. The aim of the workshop is to discuss the potentials and concerns regarding Generative AI, both in relation to curriculum development, teaching, and learning.
“One of the key challenges we have identified in LEADS is the rate of change in the skills demanded and the capacity for universities to adapt in such a short period. Generative AI may provide the solution to meeting the development of both up-to-date curricula and content as well as the delivery of truly personalised and tailored learning pathways for upskilling”, said Brendan Rowan, LEADS project coordinator.
Some of the key topics of the workshop include:
- How can Generative AI aid curriculum development?
- Can Generative AI solutions be tailored for advanced digital skills education?
- How might AI help students/trainees optimize their advanced digital skills learning paths?
- Do we expect the emergence of curricula and courses focused on prompt engineering, and if so, to which extent?
The results of the discussions will be fed into a set of recommendations that will form part of the Advanced Digital Skills roadmap – guiding European policy and Education and Training providers on the routes to addressing the major challenges surrounding Advanced Digital Skills.
The workshop will feature several important experts:
- Luca Malinverno, Data Scientist at Porini
- Luca Schirru, Researcher at CiTiP, KU Leuven
- Andrea Maurino, Professor at the University of Milan
- Marco Scirea, Associate Professor at Southern University of Denmark
Workshop details:
- Date: 17 January
- Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CET
