This month, the EU-funded project Affordable5G reaches the end of its mission to deliver a complete, disaggregated, and affordable solution covering the needs of private and enterprise 5G networks.
During its run, the project carried out numerous activities revolving around the envisioned use cases (emergency communications, smart cities and manufacturing) and managed to reach out to over 400,000 stakeholders, through the participation to over 30 different international sector events and the organisation of 2 events in close collaboration with other H2020 projects operating under the 5G PPP umbrella. All this, despite the challenging restrictions created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The consortium has also strived to contribute its efforts to the international research community – with an output of over 20 scientific publications – and standardisation bodies, while laying the groundwork for a future uptake of the solutions explored.
An in-person farewell
After the success of the last project workshop - conducted with an audience of 100 students at the campus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Affordable5G had the opportunity to present the developed innovations at the 24th InfoCom World Conference, in Athens, where partners 8Bells and inCITES took the stage of the research-oriented workshop, entitled “Research Projects for creating the Future and Innovative Telecoms Market”: with an in-person audience of around 50 participants, the event saw Affordable5G offering his take on the challenges for 5G core technologies and Connected Automated Mobility and presenting its investigation to assess facilitation of market adoption.
